the brass eight day movement with an alarm mechanism, a platform lever escapement and striking on a bell, the backplate inscribed 'D C Rait, Paris' and stamped '220', the enamelled dial with black Roman hours and a subsidiary alarm dial, the case with rectangular bevelled glass top panel and cast with entwined convolvulus foliage, with a swing handle and twig feet
