the lyre shape rest decorated with bands of beads and harebells and with scrolling leaves, inscribed 'Erard's, 18 Gt. Marlborough Str. London', with a pair of extending candle sconces, on an adjustable arrow shaft and foliate decorated triform base

Catalogue Note

Sébastien and Pierre Érard traded from Great Marlborough Street from 1792 and later Little Portland Street where they traded as pianoforte and music stand makers. An identical music stand can be seen illustrated on p.69 of Ronald Phillips Ltd. Yearbook for 2000. Also see an identical music stand with penwork decoration and labelled `ERARDS 18 G Marlborough Str.
