Catalogue Note

George Margetts (1748-1804) was born in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, the son of John Margetts, a wheel-wright, He appears to have been apprenticed to an Oxfordshire clockmaker before moving to London. He became free of the Clockmakers Company in October 1779.
