with a reeded frame above a caned seat, back and sides on ribbed supports and brass castors, the underside with a faint signature to the front rail and with a trade label for 'Simkin Upholster & Furnishing Expert, North Audley St., London, W.', with two cushions

Provenance

From the collection of Charles William Martin, 1850-96, of Quorn Place, Leicestershire. In 1886, Martin founded the Quorn Ranch Company in Alberta, Canada, one of the most famous British North American ranches, importing British horses and Angus cattle to the area.
