Catalogue notes

This vase was incorrectly signed Tapio Wirkkala in the factory, a genuine and interesting mistake as Iittala were producing designs by both Sarpaneva and Wirkkala at the time. This vase is the rarer, taller example produced with the sharper, ridged edge. Sotheby's suggests this version would have been exhibited at the Triennnales of the period.
