λ A JAPANESE INLAID WOOD TONKOZU (TOBACCO BOX)
EDO PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
In the style of Jikan Ganbun, of oval shape with straight sides and decorated with a large peony flower and leafy branches issuing from behind rockwork, the reverse with a small bird in flight above tall grasses, the lid embellished with a crescent moon; all rendered in a variety of metals, mother of pearl, horn and other inlays, the interior with paper collection labels, 8cm x 6cm.
