A JAPANESE TSUISHU LACQUER NETSUKE BY MATSUKI HOKEI
MEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURY

The finely carved red lacquer figure depicted with one foot lifted, holding a fan against his side; wearing garments embellished with designs of ho-o birds or phoenix in flight and sayagata patterns, signed Hōkei underneath, 5.9cm.
