Description
An Indian silver inkstand,
unmarked, by Hamilton & Co., Calcutta 1929,
rectangular form, the back with an embossed scene of the Hamilton & Co. store on Old Court House Street, Calcutta, surrounded by pierced foliate decoration and surmounted by a pocket watch, two inkwells modelled as standing elephants, with textured decoration, a wire-work formed pen stand and a pull-out stamp compartment, inscribed 'From the Workshop Staff of Messrs Hamilton & Co Ltd, Calcutta, to William Smith Esq. On his retirement 31st Oct 1929, a token of their deep respect', on four paw feet, length 31.3cm.
