An unusual pair of Meissen cups and saucers, c.1740-50, the quatrefoil forms painted with a variety of European songbirds perched on leafy and fruiting branches, within moulded puce-edged panels, and a saucer painted with similar bird panels reserved on a radiating blue scale ground, blue crossed swords marks, 14.8cm max.
