A rare Gateshead pottery charger designed by John George Sowerby, painted with a flying bird, in green, white and ochre on a yellow ground, painted factory mark and monogram, 36cm. diam.

John George Sowerby (1849–1914) from Gateshead was a painter, exhibiting at the Royal Academy, and also a member of the Sowerby family who owned Sowerby Glassworks.
