mark of Mark Fothergill & Sons, Bristol (fl.1793-1835), or an ancestor, inside the base along with partially obscured hallmarks to left of handle, the plain tapered body engraved ‘SARACEN’s HEAD’, verified to left of handle for Salisbury, along with unrecorded crowned ‘WR’ mark, the tongued thumbrest handle with a ball terminal
