the brass eight day drum movement striking on a gong, the backplate stamped 'A*B' and '8046155', with a black marble dial with gilt Roman numerals and inscribed 'HAMILTON & INCHES EDINBURGH', the architectural black marble case surmounted by a standing, bearded male sphinx and flanked by two recumbent winged sphinx, inlaid with red marble and gilt panels, with a pendulum
