A silver cigarette box, Lusitania Interest,
by George Unite, Birmingham 1911,
rounded rectangular form, the hinged cover inscribed 'To Comdr J.T.W. Charles. C.B RD RNR RMS Lusitania from J.J.S, memento of a Record Voyage as passengers, Mersey 4am 28th August 1911, Mersey 7am September 9th 1911', wooden lining, length 16.6cm.
RMS Lusitania was a British Ocean liner that was launched in 1906 and was the world's largest passenger ship for three months. It was sunk on a transatlantic crossing on the 7th of May 1915 by a German U-boat off the southern coast of Ireland.
