A creamware jug commemorating Earl Howe, c.1794, printed in black with a profile portrait of How above the inscription 'LONG LIVE EARL HOWE Command in Chief of THE VICTORIOUS BRITISH FLEET In the ever Memorable Engagement on the glorious first of June 1794', the reverse with a view of the battle, some good restoration to the spout, 18.5cm.
In the first major naval action of the Revolutionary War, Admiral Lord Howe defeated the Brest fleet of Admiral Villaret-Joyeuse at the Battle of the Glorious 1st June in 1794.
