the brass eight day movement with an ivorine dial with black Roman numerals in a silver frame, the case with an oval viewing window, with bevelled glass side and back panes, fluted columns, fine scrolling foliate engraving and inscribed 'Used Daily by 3rd Vis. Palmerston. M.P.'

Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston was a statesman and politician who served as prime minister from 1855 to 1858 and from 1859 until his death in 1865. He lived at his family's country estate Broadlands, near Romsey.
