Description

Two George III silver agricultural trophy goblets,
one by Burwash and Sibley, London 1810, the other by William Burwash, London 1814,
circular bowls, gilded interior, on a raised circular foot, engraved with a tree and corn, and 'The Prosperity and Security of Great Britain', he foot engraved '1811' and '1814', the reverse inscribed 'Presented by the Workington Agricultural Society to The Rev H.J Hare of Docking for Planting', the other 'to John Adcock of Blincrake for the Best Long Horned Heiffer', heights 11cm and 11.3cm, approx. weight 10.7oz. (2)

The Workington Agricultural Society, were also active on the Isle of Man and were under the presidency of John Curwen (1756-1823).
