My work is now mainly landscape, I work in various media, graphite, charcoal, Indian ink, watercolour, acrylic, and oil paint. I have now moved away from photography altogether, and strictly rely on sketches taken from the landscape, the paintings are the product of a continuous engagement with the landscape, its history and psychological significance. I relate to art history, without direct quotation from other artists. I am interested in the essential elements of landscape, used to create paintings that are the beginning of a meditation on our place in it.
I hope that the style of painting leaves room to be thrilled by the quality of the paint, while retaining the spirit of its origins, and that they communicate some of the mystery that I sense when engaging or contemplating the landscape and environment
