A Japanese sword (o-wakizashi), blade 20 in., hon-zukuri, mumei, copper niju-habaki, iron mokko-gata tsuba with foliate decoration in light relief and matching fuchi and kabuto-gane, black laquered saya, kogatana with kozoka adorned with a pelican; together with a Japanese dagger (tanto), blade 11.75 in., hira-zukuri with hi, mumei, iron hilt fitting of the type often associated with the Satsuma rebellion, black laquered saya with vacant accommodation for a kogatana.
