Description
A Khmer sandstone torso of Vishnu, wearing a short vertically pleated sampot with double fishtail sash and fan-shaped folds in relief across his left thigh, his waist encircled by a belt with terminals in relief, Angkor Wat style, probably c. 12th/13th century, 47cm. Cf. Boisselier, pl.105B and Sotheby's, London, November 1988, Lot 38, for a similar but more complete figure.
