λ A Louis XV gold-mounted tortoiseshell snuff box,
by Jean-Francois Breton, Paris 1749-50,
circular form, wavy-edge borders, the cover and base set with tortoiseshell panels with pique pose on the cover with a large bird with spread wings, and on the base a cockerel, lined inside with gold, diameter 6.3cm, approx. gross weight 115g.
