Description
A late 19th-century Austrian silver and enamel two-handled tray,
apparently unmarked, Vienna circa 1890,
lobed oval form, enamelled dragon scroll handles, the polychrome border mounted with masks, possibly representing four of teh disciples, the centre of the tray with a classical scene of The Judgement of Solomon, and with four outer scenes of his life, with a border of flowers on a cream ground, the underside of the tray also with a scene possibly from Matthew 17:24-27, the temple tax and the coin in the fish's mouth, with black foliate scroll and bird decoration on a white background, length handle to handle 38cm.
