A suite of three George II silver tea caddies,
by Christian Hillan, London 1739,
upright rectangular form, chased scroll, foliate and shell decoration, slide-off covers with hinged shell finials, the central caddy on four scroll bracket feet, the underside inscribed 'Eliza Le Sage Clement The Gift of Her Aunt Le Sage', in a fitted velvet-lined shagreen case, with a lock and key, with gilded brass fittings and initialled 'AS SC', height of central caddy 10.5cm, length of case 23.3cm, approx. weight 37.9oz. Listed in collection inventory as purchased from Wartski, 3 March 1938.

The caddies were probably a gift to Eliza Le Sage Clement (1813-1888), the daughter of Diana (nee Le Sage) and Samuel Clement. Diana was the youngest daughter of Augustin Le Sage, from the renowned family of silversmiths.
