A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE WHITE GLASS 'QUAILS AND MILLET' SNUFF BOTTLE
QIANLONG 1736-95
Of flattened circular form, the milky-white glass decorated in relief with four quails standing amongst branches of millet, chrysanthemum and peony blooms and rockwork, raised on a short foot, the base with a three-character Guyue xuan mark, 5.6cm.
The depiction of quails and millet refers to the Chinese rebus suisui ping’an, which translates to ‘may there be peace year after year’.
