A FINE CHINESE WHITE JADE 'RED CLIFF' BOULDER CARVING
JIAQING 1796-1820
Carved to the front with a scene from the poem 'The Red Cliff', depicting the poet Su Shi in a raft with two companions and an oarsman amongst crested waves before vast rocky cliffs and pine trees, the reverse carved with a continuous landscape comprising a pavilion amongst pine and wutong trees and wispy clouds, the stone with some russet inclusions, with a wood stand, 17.8cm.
