A RARE PAIR OF CHINESE RUBY AND FAMILLE ROSE 'FLOWERS' VASES AND COVERS
YONGZHENG 1723-35
Each decorated with four wicker baskets laden with large blossoms of flowers and bamboo and with trailing rope handles, between ruby-ground lappets decorated with flowerheads, the rims and covers with panels of flowers and surmounted by Buddhist lion finials, both vases with Fonthill Heirloom paper labels, no.630, 45cm. (4)
From the collection of Alfred Morrison (1821-97), Fonthill House, Wiltshire, Fonthill Heirlooms no.630, and then John Granville Morrison (1906-96), 1st Baron Margadale of Islay and thence by direct descent to the present owner.
