THREE JAPANESE KŌGŌ (INCENSE BOXES AND COVERS)
MEIJI AND LATER, 19TH AND 20TH CENTURY

Two shaped as stylised rabbits, one Kyō-yaki by Ishida Rainosuke (b.1903) with orange ears and eyes, stamped Rainosuke underneath and with a tomobako (wood box) inscribed and signed; the other with green ears, with a stamped mark for Rokubei, in a tomobako inscribed, signed and sealed, possibly by Kiyomizu Rokubei V (1875-1959); the third a Satsuma example of oval shape with chidori flying over crashing waves, brocade patterns and flowers, signed Gyokuzan under the Shimazu mon underneath; 8.5cm max.
