Description
A JAPANESE SAKE SET AND CUPS BY THE IMAEMON WORKSHOP
HEISEI ERA, 20TH/21ST CENTURY
Comprising a sake pourer decorated with sprays of prunus, pine and bamboo, with three footed cups painted with one of the three plants, each with an Imaemon mark in underglaze blue underneath; in a tomobako (wood box) inscribed Nishiki sho-chiku-bai tokkuri sakazuki (polychrome sake pourer and cups with the Three Friends of Winter) and signed and sealed Imaemon; together with a set of five cups with prunus blossoms and maple leaves, each signed Imaemon in underglaze blue to the base, in a tomobako inscribed Nishiki Tastutagawa-e yunomi (polychrome teacups with Tatsuta River), possibly referring to flowers and leaves floating on the surface, signed and sealed Imaemon on the reverse; all decorated in underglaze blue and red, cyan and yellow enamels, 14cm max.
