A JAPANESE INLAID-BRONZE CHARGER BY THE INOUE COMPANY OF KYOTO
MEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURY
The well decorated in relief with an Immortal hoisting a large Buddhist bell, a small boy cheering behind him with outstretched arms, whilst two frightened oni hide behind rocky outcrops; a faint inscription above the boy reading Toriyama Yo...ro; framed by a band of sayagata patterns, the details rendered in iroe takazogan, hirazogan, takabori and kebori; the reverse signed Saikyo Inoue sei (made by Inoue of West Kyoto) and with a gold seal for Fusahiro, 27.4cm.
