Sydney March (1876 - 1968). Cecil John Rhodes, a bronze bust, signed and dated 1901, 17.75in (45cm) h. Provenance; Sir Roy (Raphael) Welensky. Sydney March was from a large family of artists of which he and his sister, Elsie are the most well known. Sydney became a fine portrait modeller, sculpting busts of Edward VII and George V and other contemporary celebrities.
