A Japanese scroll painting in ink, colour and gold on silk, with the central figure of Buddha Shakyamuni raised on an elaborate throne, a jewelled canopy above him and a double halo behind, his hands in the vitarka mudra; with many bodhisattvas and other guardian deities standing beside him, 91cm x 41cm.
