MEIJI ERA, 19TH CENTURY

The woodblock-printed books variously illustrating mon (family crests), kimono patterns and woodworking; including one full three-volumes set, and two volumes of the Kodai Moyō Kōeki Moncho Taizen (The complete collection of ancient patterns and broadly useful family crests), by Kaiyama Kyusaburo, published in June, Meiji 24 (1891) by Sokojukai; two sets in two volumes of the Daiku Tana Hinagata (Carpenter's shelf models) from the series Zōkō San-hen (Miscellaneous craftwork) by Ochiga Taiga no Kuni, published in 1876; and a single volume of the Shinsen Tana Hinagata by Jūjirō Murata, published in Meiji 15 (1882), edited by Murato Juijiro; 22.6cm x 15cm max. Provenance: from the Estate of a Collector, Heath House, Hampshire, and thence by descent. By repute, acquired in Asia at the turn of the 19th century.
