The Second World War B.E.F. M.M. group of five medals to 2nd Lieutenant (former Lance Sergeant) Wilmer George Watson, Royal Artillery: Military Medal, George V (903746 L/SJT. W. G. WATSON. R.A.); 1939-45 Star, Africa Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45, all unnamed as issued; mounted for wearing, all at least good very fine, the first toned. [5]

Wilmer Watson was recommended for the Military Medal for service as an Observation Post Assistant in the 99th Field Regiment Royal Artillery - a TA unit which fought in Belgium and France - for gallantry and devotion to duty.
"..he carried out his duties under fire most efficiently and set a fine example to all.."
Following the evacuation of the BEF from France, Watson was commissioned and posted to North Africa.
