Robert Devereaux 3rd Earl of Essex, Military Reward 1642, a cast and chased silver-gilt badge, oval, facing bust in armour below raised arm holding sword, 'THE SWORD OF THE LORD AND OF GIDEON', rev. the two houses of parliament with King and speaker, 'IN THE MULTITUDE OF COUNCELLORS THERE IS PEACE', integral lugs top and bottom, loose suspension ring, 44.7 x 31 mm (including lugs), 11.28 g (E 140 variant), gilding rubbed on nose, otherwise good very fine.
