Description

A 22 bore continental flintlock pistol, two-stage octagonal-to-round barrel 7 in. and gilded with botanical embellishments at the breech and around the low fore-sight, shell engraving to the tang; the lock with angular pan and with a scene of a bird of prey and a rabbit by a tree incuse to the tail, foliate decorated cock; walnut full-stock with iron furniture including a well-shaped and engraved trigger guard and side plate and a butt cap with long spurs, the wood carved around the tang, trigger guard and tail pipe, wooden ram rod, probably French, 18th century. Section 58(2) - no licence required if possessed as a curiosity or ornament.
