This lively terracotta group exemplifies the playful elegance and technical virtuosity of the French sculptor Claude Michel (1738–1814), known as Clodion. Renowned for his small-scale terracotta models, Clodion specialised in scenes of childhood, mythology, and pastoral amusement, infusing his works with a sense of movement, spontaneity, and charm characteristic of the late Rococo style.
