Description

A rare Elizabeth I silvergilt provincial maidenhead spoon, scratched on the back of the bowl with the initials 'H' over 'WE', struck once in the bowl with a leopard's head mark in a shaped punch*, attributed to Nottingham c.1560, 6.25in (16cm) long, 1oz. *See Jacksons Revised pp.374 for this mark as seen on Church Plate of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.
