Description

A George II salver, of shaped circular outline with a shell and scroll border and centrally engraved coat of arms*, by William Peaston, London 1750, 11.7in (29.7cm) diameter, 27.5oz. * The arms are those of Acland quartering Wrothe with Oxenham in pretence for Arthur and Elizabeth Acland. Arthur Acland was the third son of Sir Hugh Acland sixth Baronet of Columb John, Devon, which later became the Killerton Estate now owned by the National Trust.
