Description
A rare Wellington commemorative jug, in white stoneware, relief moulded with a portrait bust titled 'Wellington' and the reverse with a portrait titled 'Blucher', beneath the spout a caduceus, cornucopia and clasped hands, early 19th century, 11.3cm.
Cf. J May, Commemorative Pottery 1780-1900, where a similar mug is illustrated and described as 'the only mug positively recorded to mark the Battle of Waterloo'.
