Description

A Japanese ivory carving, of a seated man smoking a pipe, wearing a conical hat and a yukata, a broomstick beneath his legs upon which a wren is perched, a red seal mark signature to the base for Kintani, Meiji 1868-1912, 7.5cm. Provenance: gifted to General Hopkinson in the late 19th century, from the Summer Palace, Peking.
