A rare English porcelain white glazed model of a prowling lion, snarling, bearing his teeth and with his head lowered, he stands upon a rocky base, probably Longton Hall or Bow, 18.5cm. Across. Bears the John Hewitt Collection label. Cf.Albert Amor Ltd, 1997 catalogue no.9726, where this is described as mid 18th century possibly Longton Hall.
