A Rare Martin Brothers stoneware Monkey vase and cover by Robert Wallace Martin, modelled on haunches with arms resting in front with forward looking stare, in shades of brown, blue and ochre incised R W Martin & Bros, London & Southall to head and to the back of base R W Martin & Bros London, restored rims 27cm. high A monkey is a strange animal for Robert Wallace to model and this figure might relate to his sister's death caused by a monkey bite.
