Description

An Important Wedgwood Fairyland lustre vase designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones, decorated in the 'Bubbles' pattern on a Midnight ground, printed and painted in colours and gilt printed Wedgwood mark, original paper label 54cm. high Daisy Makeig-Jones takes inspiration from the Buddhist tail of Kwannon...' Kwannon the Divine Mother stood on a Celestial Bridge of Heaven and poured forth from a crystal Phial the Water of Creation over the Earth. As this holy water fell in a series of bubbles, each bubble could be seen to contain a little babe..but before the bubbles reached the Earth many of them were seized by the horrid dragon who lived in a cave...' It is thought that this vase might have been exhibited at the British Empire Exhibition, Wembley 1924.
