Description
An 18th century continental necessaire, in the form of a casket of plain oblong form on four turned feet, fitted with two drawers and a hinged domed mounted tortoiseshell cover with a gilt interior and inset mirror, with engraved handles and an escutcheon, unmarked except for an early 19th century Dutch import mark (struck four times), probably French, mid 18th century, 2.8in (7.2cm) wide.
