Clare Durham

Clare graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2007 with a first class honours degree in Fine Art Valuation, having twice been the recipient of the Christopher Weston bursary award. She joined Woolley and Wallis on graduation, working alongside John Axford in the Ceramics and Asian Art departments. In 2008 Clare won the first ever Society of Fine Arts Auctioneers essay prize, and in 2010 was appointed an auctioneer for the company. She took over the running of the British and Continental Ceramics and Glass Department in April 2011 and since then has worked on building and maintaining the department's reputation as the leading regional department for ceramics. She was appointed an Associate Director for the company in January 2013. In 2018, Clare identified the first recorded American porcelain teapot, which was subsequently sold to the Metropolitan Museum in New York for £520,000. Clare is actively involved in several collecting groups and societies, both as a speaker and as a member of the English Ceramic Circle, the Oxford Ceramics Group and the French Porcelain Society.
