A Charles I provincial silver Apostle spoon,

maker's mark D.C three times, possibly for David Clayden, circa 1630,

the reverse of the bowl with scratch initials 'S' over 'EM' '1652', faceted slight tapering stem with a gilded Apostle finial, lacking emblem, length 18.9cm, approx. weight 1.9oz.

Provenance: The Winfield Collection, Bonhams and Brooks, Knightsbridge, 6 March 2001, lot 98.

Bought by Mr Winfield from Banfill and Chilman Ltd. Bridle Lane, Brewer Street, London for £17.10, on 10 February 1950.
