An Austral Islands paddle
An Austral Islands paddle, with fine all over carving, the slightly concave blade with a ridge to the reverse with a slender eliptical to circular shaft, the pierced hollow pommel with eight dancing girls, 2nd quarter 19th century, 124.5cm long.
Provenance:
William Raymond Browne (b.1819) emigrated to New Zealand in 1858. Returned to the United Kingdom in the late 1870's.
