A South Staffordshire enamel bonbonnière

£400 - £600 £380

A South Staffordshire enamel bonbonnière,

c.1760-70, modelled as the head of a deer, its coat detailed in brown with speckled markings, the flat lid painted with a bold flower spray including rose and convolvulus, 6.5cm long.

The small moulded ears on this box have been ignored by the decorator, suggesting it may have initially been made to represent another animal.
