A George III silver badge of office for the town bailiff of Scarborough,
maker's mark of George Gray over-stamping another, London circa 1784/5,
oval form, chased with the lymphad or galley on a matted background, with a punched bead border, inscribed 'APRIL 6.1786', and pierced with three pairs of holes for stitching to wearer's coat, length 8.9cm, approx. weight 1oz.
