A Chinese gilt bronze figure of Guandi, the fierce god sitting on a rectangular bench and raised on a plinth, 18th century, losses to his moustache and sideburn, 17.7cm.
Provenance: Ernest Ohly Collection.
Guandi, the God of War, was based on the famous historical 3rd century military commander Guan Yu. He personifies honour, loyalty, integrity, justice , courage and strength.
