A French faïence albarello late 18th century, Paris or Rouen, the cylindrical form inscribed in manganese with 'Ung. de Styrace' between two green and yellow snakes entwined around bare branches, some restoration, 18cm.

Unguent de Styrace is recorded as being used as a form of poultice to help clean infected wounds.
